The Muffin Men: Baking for AIDS/LifeCycle

A socially-distanced bake sale to support the life-saving services of the LA LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

For the first time in its history, AIDS/LifeCycle was forced to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was incredibly sad news, but we knew the community had to stay strong. And despite the cancellation, the critical service needs of the partners remained the same.

AIDS/LifeCycle, which raised more than more than $16.7M last year, is a primary funding source for the LA LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. This year, AIDS/LifeCycle reduced its fundraising goal to $13M, and as co-captains of Team Toyota, my boyfriend Kris and I decided to do our part to help them bridge that gap.

Through a socially-distanced bake sale, we've raised over $1,300 -- getting us closer and closer to our #My545 challenge goal of baking 545 muffins for AIDS/LifeCycle. This number is reflective of the mileage we would have biked on the San Francisco to LA route. Plus, many donors have specified for their muffins to go to those in need.

It's been an amazing experience to not only raise funds for AIDS/LifeCycle, but to deliver a tasty treat to healthcare workers, fire fighters, HIV/AIDS patients, and school staff in the DFW area. Thank you to everyone who's supported!
